Application Engineer (Mainframe/Cloud)

Location: Hybrid work based at locations in Vienna, Virginia; Pensacola, Florida; or Winchester, Virginia, United States.

Salary: $96,900–$141,600 annually.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership to agile teams, establish project teams, and manage scope, schedules, resources, risks, and delivery.
• Design and implement cloud integration patterns using MuleSoft, Kafka, Azure Integration Services, and REST APIs.
• Develop scalable application architectures integrating mainframe, cloud, distributed, vendor, and SaaS systems.
• Support the Consumer Lending cloud migration and platform modernization roadmap.
• Design and maintain highly available z/OS applications and platform solutions, including automation, orchestration, monitoring, recovery, and restart patterns.
• Provide Level 3 production support, troubleshoot incidents, participate in on-call rotation, and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of experience as a cloud or integration engineer in a complex enterprise environment.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring, MuleSoft, RESTful APIs, OAuth 2.0, message brokers, and REST API service development.
• Hands-on experience with JCL, REXX, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, CICS, Db2, IMS, JES2/JES3, MQ, TCP/IP, and z/OS UNIX System Services.
• Experience with IBM System Automation for z/OS, IBM NetView, Parallel Sysplex, workload scheduling, and cross-system automation.
• Proficiency with Azure, AWS, or GCP, particularly managed integration services, plus experience deploying and maintaining production systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent training, education, and experience.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Experience with cloud-native LOS/LMS systems, Databricks or data lake platforms, relational databases, data modeling, and ETL tools.
• Consumer and business lending origination, servicing, and delivery experience.
• AI experience.
