Associate Power System Protection Engineer

Location: Jackson, Mississippi, United States; ability to travel 25% of the time.

Salary: $84,200–$91,000 per year.

What you will do

• Work with customers to apply technologies and solutions to utility and industrial power systems.
• Design models and demonstrations that show how protection technologies can improve system performance.
• Support SEL products and troubleshoot solutions to identify root causes.
• Analyze protective relay responses to power system faults.
• Teach customers to use SEL products and understand how protective relays protect electrical equipment.
• Contribute to and review white papers, application guides, industry journals, and technical papers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience with power system protection and relays.
• Knowledge of utility and/or industrial power systems, especially protection, control, and operations.
• Strong customer relationship-building, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, learn new technologies, and travel 25% of the time.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
