NewsNation DC News Gathering Field Producer

Location: Washington, DC, United States; domestic and international travel as needed

Salary: $80,000–$90,000 per year, commensurate with experience

What you will do

• Research, report, and source timely news stories from briefings, press conferences, events, and statements.
• Develop distinctive story and guest ideas and cultivate sources covering breaking developments in both houses of Congress.
• Organize field shoots, interviews, and live shots, managing planning and logistics for the field team.
• Build live hits, segments, and packages, including well-written broadcast scripts.
• Gather material from affiliates, agencies, and social media for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Coordinate needs and expectations between the field team, show team, assignment desk, and bureau management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, or a related field.
• At least five years of broadcast or digital production experience.
• Experience in reporting, research, and writing.
• Understanding of social media and social newsgathering.
• Ability to operate newsroom computer systems and work cooperatively with network personnel.
• Availability for overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, often with short notice; willingness to work in Washington, DC and travel as needed.
