Features Editorial Aide

Location: Washington, D.C. newsroom; on-site five days a week

Salary: $54,600–$63,500 per year

What you will do

• Coordinate, upload and fact-check image credit information for Features coverage.
• Research and produce newsletters, recipe roundups, advice columns and food live chats.
• Support photo research, reporting, newsgathering and the organization of editorial archives.
• Contribute to Features social media content, including social video when appropriate.
• Manage general inboxes, respond to readers and support audience engagement.
• Attend planning meetings, maintain event calendars and provide project support across the department.

Requirements

• Strong interest in journalism and food, lifestyle, advice, pop culture and culture coverage.
• Exceptional organization, attention to detail and command of grammar.
• Lively writing skills and interest in developing as a feature writer.
• Social media fluency and the ability to learn digital and social publishing systems quickly.
• Collaborative, reliable, curious and eager to learn from experienced journalists.
