Senior Electrical Engineer (Power Plant Controls)

Location: Onsite at a Midwest generating station; possible stations include Cayuga, East Bend, Edwardsport, Gibson, or Noblesville, with the final location determined by the hiring team. Approximately 25–50% regional travel is required.

What you will do

• Provide electrical and controls engineering expertise for power plant systems and equipment.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues of increasing scope and complexity.
• Conduct engineering studies and independently manage non-routine projects, schedules, and interfaces.
• Support station operations, maintenance, implementation managers, outages, and emergent technical requests.
• Facilitate MER meetings, support long-range planning and station risk grid activities, and develop scope and budget recommendations.
• Document inspection findings and provide prioritized repair recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or a Professional Engineer license; a master’s degree may substitute for the bachelor’s degree.
• At least 6 years of engineering experience, or 5 years with state registration as a Professional Engineer.
• Experience supporting electrical or control equipment in power plants or industrial environments.
• Ability to work lawfully in the United States without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
• Ability to work onsite in an office and power plant environment and travel approximately 25–50%.

Nice to have

• Electrical Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program.
• DCS programming, tuning, system development, hardware upkeep, or simulator programming experience.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, alarm management, medium- and high-voltage equipment, and electrical protection systems.
• Experience with electrical testing protocols, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, utility operations, or project management.
• Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
