TL;DR
Staff Process Engineer (Advanced Materials): Developing, commissioning, qualifying, and scaling rare-earth permanent magnet manufacturing processes from pilot development to stable high-volume production with an accent on process recipes, statistical capability, and production ramp-up. Focus on designing DoEs, optimizing critical process parameters, solving complex manufacturing-floor problems, and establishing SPC, MSA, and process-control systems.

Location: Research Triangle Park, NC, United States; regular presence on the production floor is required. Must be a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

Company

hirify.global manufactures American rare-earth permanent magnets for critical industries including defense, aerospace, and automotive.

What you will do

  • Develop equipment recipes, process parameters, operating windows, production standards, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Design and execute DoEs, analyze ANOVA and regression results, and optimize critical process parameters.
  • Support FAT/SAT, equipment startup, engineering trials, qualification runs, commissioning, and production ramp-up.
  • Perform Cp/Cpk, Pp/Ppk, SPC, control-chart, process stability, MSA, and Gage R&R analyses.
  • Lead structured problem solving using 5-Why, Fishbone, Pareto, 8D, hypothesis testing, and statistical analysis.
  • Improve first-pass yield, scrap, rework, cycle time, OEE, throughput, and process capability while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field and 7+ years of process or manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience taking processes from development through commissioning, qualification, and high-volume production.
  • Strong knowledge of DoE, SPC, MSA, Gage R&R, Cp/Cpk, Pp/Ppk, ANOVA, regression, and statistical process analysis.
  • Experience developing PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flows, Process Specifications, SOPs, Work Instructions, and Reaction Plans.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment and process problems on the manufacturing floor and work in hot, humid, or noisy environments.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Minitab, JMP, Python, MATLAB, or similar statistical and data-analysis tools.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, MSA, IATF 16949, AS9100, or other regulated manufacturing methodologies.
  • Background in high-temperature processing, powder processing, metallurgy, vacuum processing, chemical processing, precision machining, or advanced materials.
  • Experience with automated process monitoring, SPC/MES dashboards, PLC/HMI systems, greenfield factory launches, or large-scale production ramps.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work directly on the manufacturing floor during equipment commissioning and production ramp.
  • Regular travel to equipment suppliers may be required for design reviews, engineering trials, FAT, and commissioning support.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment, including respirators, and completion of fit testing are required.
  • Adherence to safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements is expected.
