Damage Prevention Technician II (Fiber Optic)

Location: Remote - TX; field-based in the Waco, Texas area, ideally between Waco and Temple

Salary: $19.52–$30.00 USD per hour

What you will do

• Analyze blueprints and identify construction project locations.
• Locate, measure, map, and mark underground fiber optic cables and other utilities using electrical, magnetic, GPS, blueprint analysis, and radar techniques.
• Document site information, utility locations, and interactions with clients, engineers, and management in digital systems.
• Pinpoint utility coordinates using GPS or surveying equipment and identify potential network-protection issues.
• Inspect cabinets, buried cables, construction sites, and outdoor facilities in varying weather and environmental conditions.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, network equipment, materials, site security, and contractor performance.

Requirements

• At least two years of relevant field construction experience.
• Previous utility-locating and fiber optic cable build experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with computers, mobile phones, test equipment, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work on-call 24/7/365 on a rotating schedule, including standby, call-outs, dispatch, overtime, and occasional travel.
• Valid state-issued driver license, eligibility to operate a company vehicle, adherence to safety procedures, and ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
