Focus on defining subsystem requirements, performing architecture trades, executing experimental test programs, and optimizing cryogenic and other valve designs for performance, reliability, and safety.
Location: El Segundo, California, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
Salary: $118,000–$142,000 per year

What you will do
- Design and develop pneumoactuated, electropneumatic, electrohydraulic check valves, throttles, regulators, and other valve types.
- Define requirements, perform architecture trades, and lead system-level integration for assigned subsystems.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and contributions to preliminary and critical design reviews.
- Perform CFD and FEA analyses covering pressure drop, hydraulic characteristics, and mechanical integrity.
- Develop test programs, analyze experimental data, and optimize valve designs based on test results.
- Collaborate with mechanical, aerospace, and controls engineering teams to deliver flight-ready hardware.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of industry experience in aerospace propulsion systems or related areas.
- Hands-on proficiency with Siemens NX or SolidWorks and expertise in Ansys CFX, Fluent, and Mechanical.
- Experience with structural or mechanical design for flight hardware and early-stage vehicle architecture.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Eligibility to work under United States Government Space Technology Export Regulations is required.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience designing cryogenic valves for liquid rocket engines or other rocket systems.
- Test bench setup, performance diagnostics, GD&T, and aerospace safety and reliability practices.
- Hands-on engineering experience across the full development cycle and experience in a startup or rapid-development environment.
