Damage Prevention Technician I (Fiber Optic Utilities)

Location: Remote - Colorado, with field work in the Colorado Springs area; candidates should reside within 30 minutes of the Colorado Springs metro area.

Salary: $16.25–$25.00 USD per hour.

What you will do

• Analyze blueprints to determine construction project locations.
• Locate, map, and mark the position and depth of underground fiber optic cables and other utilities.
• Use electrical, magnetic, GPS, blueprint analysis, and radar techniques to measure and pinpoint utilities.
• Document site information, utility data, and interactions in organizational software.
• Communicate with clients, engineers, management, and other teams while identifying potential network risks.
• Inspect outdoor facilities and maintain tools, test equipment, materials, and site security.

Requirements

• Up to one year of relevant field construction experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Computer, mobile phone, test equipment, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office proficiency required.
• Must have a cell phone and a state-issued driver license for the state of residence.
• Must be available for rotating 24/7/365 on-call coverage, including standby, call-outs, dispatch, overtime, and occasional travel.
• Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 75 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.

Nice to have

• Basic understanding of underground installations.
• Previous utility locating or fiber optic cable construction experience.
