Aircraft Mechanic (Skillbridge)

Location: Meridianville, Alabama, United States; additional locations include Kirtland AFB and Cannon AFB in New Mexico, Birmingham and Fort Rucker in Alabama, and Hurlburt Field and Eglin in Florida. On-site work is required.

What you will do

• Perform airframe and engine maintenance, repairs, modifications, servicing, and inspections in accordance with approved procedures.
• Troubleshoot aircraft structures, landing gear, flight controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, hydraulic, ventilation, heating, engine, and auxiliary power systems.
• Repair, replace, rebuild, remove, inspect, and install aircraft structures, engines, gearboxes, and functional components.
• Conduct preflight, thru-flight, post-flight, progressive, phase, periodic, and other required inspections.
• Use technical manuals, drawings, test equipment, tools, and government systems to diagnose malfunctions and complete maintenance records.
• Provide technical direction to Aircraft Mechanic Helpers and Aircraft Workers while following safety, quality, DHS, and Department of Defense procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus 4 years of experience, including 2 years using military standards and specifications.
• Knowledge of aircraft maintenance concepts, practices, procedures, instruments, tools, and specialized test equipment.
• Ability to work in cramped or awkward positions, climb aircraft structures and work platforms, and lift items up to 40 pounds.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, customer service, and independent-work skills.
• Ability to pass drug and background screening.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience maintaining UH-60, AH-64, CH-47, MC-130J, HC-130, C-130, C-26, T-38, CV22, or V22 aircraft.
