TL;DR
Aircraft Mechanic I, II, & III - Structures / Sheet Metal (Aircraft Structures and Composite Repair): Assessing aircraft damage and fabricating, repairing, and installing structural and composite components with an accent on depot-level metalworking, close-tolerance drilling, and high-strength fastening. Focus on designing repairs that preserve structural integrity, performing flight-control rigging and weight-and-balance work, and documenting maintenance in automated systems.

What you will do

  • Inspect and assess damage to aircraft structural and composite components using technical data.
  • Design and perform structural repairs, modifications, corrosion protection, and replacement of major components.
  • Form, cut, bend, drill, ream, and fasten repair parts using advanced metalworking tools, jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds.
  • Perform flight-control weight-and-balance functions, control-surface rigging, and post-repair serviceability inspections.
  • Maintain aircraft support equipment, tools, records, maintenance databases, and quality-assurance documentation.
  • Follow safety, environmental, hazardous-material, foreign-object-damage, and tool-control procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanic I: 2+ years of relevant aircraft structural maintenance experience.
  • Mechanic II: 5+ years of relevant aircraft depot-level structural maintenance experience.
  • Mechanic III: 12+ years of relevant aircraft structural maintenance experience, including 5+ years of depot-level work.
  • Experience with fixed- or rotary-wing aircraft, structural metals, tubing, cable, plastics, fiberglass, bonded honeycomb, and composite components.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Air Force Specialty Code 2A753 or 2A773 experience.
  • FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant certification.
  • Multiple aviation qualifications, certifications, or disciplines; Mechanic III candidates must be able to train others in these skills.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense contracts.
