Aviation Machinist – C-130 Specialist (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Set up and operate conventional and CNC lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to fabricate and repair aircraft parts.
• Manufacture replacement parts, bushings, sleeves, and specialized tooling for the C-130 platform using blueprints, engineering drawings, damaged samples, and CAD files.
• Select and process aviation-grade aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and high-strength composite materials.
• Perform heat treatment and Rockwell hardness testing in accordance with ASTM, AWS standards, and USAF Technical Orders.
• Inspect parts with calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges to verify dimensional tolerances and structural specifications.
• Collaborate with aircraft mechanics and structural technicians during C-130 Letter Check maintenance while following aviation safety and quality requirements.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience as an aviation or aerospace machinist.
• Experience working with aircraft components, structures, and technical documentation specific to the C-130 platform.
• Proficiency with manual and CNC machining equipment and complex engineering drawings and technical manuals.
• Expertise with precision measurement tools and techniques.
• High school diploma or equivalent, plus a machinist apprenticeship, technical school program, or military aviation machinist training.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance and required contract access.

Nice to have

• CAD/CAM experience with FeatureCAM or Mastercam for CNC programming.
• Military aviation maintenance squadron experience working directly on the C-130 platform.
