What you will do

  • Inspect aircraft structural components, assess damage, and develop repair or replacement procedures using applicable technical data.
  • Fabricate, form, cut, bend, and fasten metal and composite repair components using depot-level tools, equipment, jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds.
  • Install close-tolerance, high-strength fasteners and perform structural modifications, corrosion protection, flight-control weight and balance, and control-surface rigging.
  • Inspect completed repairs for serviceability and document maintenance actions, discrepancies, equipment records, and quality-assurance information.
  • Operate and maintain aircraft support equipment, automated maintenance systems, and controlled tools while following safety and environmental procedures.
  • Recommend improvements to equipment performance and maintenance procedures and train personnel in structural maintenance techniques.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 12+ years of relevant aircraft structural maintenance experience on fixed- or rotary-wing commercial, government, or DoD aircraft.
  • 5+ years of depot-level structural maintenance experience, including major structural component replacement.
  • Experience supporting DoD contracts and knowledge of fixed-wing aircraft construction, aerospace materials, metal fabrication, tubing, cable, fiberglass, bonded honeycomb, and composite structures.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation, enter maintenance data accurately, prepare reports, and communicate technical decisions.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.

Nice to have

  • Previous Air Force Specialty Code 2A773 experience.
  • FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant certification.
  • Multiple aviation qualifications, certifications, or disciplines and the ability to train others in these skills.
