What you will do

• Lead inspections in complex, high-hazard industrial workplaces and evaluate workplace practices and environmental conditions.
• Develop exposure assessments, monitoring plans, and recommendations for occupational health and safety standards.
• Support the Respiratory Protection Program, including qualitative and quantitative fit testing.
• Provide industrial hygiene training, advisory services, and subject matter expertise to CDC employees and less experienced hygienists.
• Use field instrumentation to troubleshoot measurement issues and manage industrial hygiene workflows and data in Cority.
• Perform ergonomic assessments and collaborate with safety, occupational medicine, IT, and agency leadership teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, toxicology, safety sciences, environmental health, or a related science or engineering field.
• At least 5 years of experience practicing industrial hygiene.
• Experience developing complex exposure assessments, identifying similar exposure groups, creating exposure monitoring plans, and performing personal and area monitoring.
• Knowledge of sampling techniques and methods for identifying, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards.
• Ability to lead inspections in high-hazard environments, communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and collaborate across disciplines.
• Public Trust/NACI clearance requirement.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cority or other environmental health and safety management systems.
• Certified Industrial Hygienist certification.
• Knowledge of ergonomic assessment methods such as REBA, RULA, and the NIOSH lifting equation.
• Knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, EPA, and CDC occupational safety standards and procedures.
• Experience leading industrial hygiene programs or complex exposure assessment initiatives.
