What you will do
- Lead the Institute for Infectious Animal Diseases and develop its strategic vision within the Texas A&M University System.
- Support faculty, staff, and students across research and extension programs while managing human and fiscal resources.
- Build interdisciplinary teams, lead proposal development, and secure internal and external funding.
- Represent the Institute with government agencies, international organizations, industry groups, academic institutions, and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership for animal health, emergency management, epidemiology, international capacity-building, and industry extension projects.
- Serve as a principal investigator and contribute to curriculum development and field training programs.
Requirements
- DVM and/or a terminal degree in an associated field.
- At least 10 years of experience in veterinary medicine, the veterinary industry, public health, or a related field.
- Recognized expertise and documented contributions in veterinary medicine and/or public health through research, education, or industry work.
- Demonstrated success leading interdisciplinary veterinary programs, teams, projects, and resources.
- Experience engaging stakeholders, resolving critical animal health issues, and working with regulatory, legislative, and interagency bodies.
- Excellent English oral, written, and electronic communication skills required.
Nice to have
- Veterinary epidemiology and regulatory medicine experience.
- International veterinary medicine, transboundary disease, and capacity-building experience.
- National or international recognition in research, grant writing, education, or industry.
