Project Engineer - Proposal

Location: Fairview Heights, Illinois; Houston, Texas; Denver, Colorado; or Plymouth, Michigan

Salary: $110,000–$175,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead the development of technical scopes and proposals from initiation through customer submission.
• Meet with sales representatives and customers to understand technical needs and recommend suitable engineering solutions.
• Estimate engineering services, subcontractor labor, equipment, and project expenses.
• Coordinate technical reviews, proposal development, internal approvals, bid documents, and customer revisions.
• Evaluate project risks, subcontractors, purchase orders, and contracts against scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Conduct internal and customer kickoff meetings, complete project handoffs, and lead post-project reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field; or an associate degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience; or PMP certification or similar with 6 years of relevant experience.
• Basic knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration, automation, and communications applications.
• Working knowledge of electric power system design, studies, information and communication technology, and protective relay applications.
• Experience estimating labor, equipment, subcontractor costs, and project expenses.
• Experience developing milestone and construction schedules and evaluating project risks, contracts, and purchase orders.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally at least 25% based on the focus area.

Nice to have

• Protection experience in generation, transmission, and distribution.
• Experience with BOMs, layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, protection schemes, coordination studies, and arc flash studies.
• Automation experience with SCADA, PLCs, control systems, HMIs, networks, and cybersecurity.
• Experience developing communications, automation, and control system infrastructure.
• Experience conducting FAT and SAT with customers.
