Network Engineer II - Optical (DWDM)

Location: United States. Applicants must be currently authorized to work full time in the United States; employer-sponsored work authorization, including OPT, TN, H1B, or other work visas, is not available.

Base salary: $61,100–$94,000 USD annually, depending on experience and other factors.

What you will do

• Design, plan, record, and fulfill network capacity across U.S. and Canadian networks.
• Design DWDM networks and implement wave circuit designs using established network architecture standards and future growth plans.
• Create engineering design packages that can be used by operations personnel.
• Coordinate with project managers, order management, operations, and internal teams to deliver customer services on schedule.
• Review capacity requests, maintain commitments and deadlines in operational systems, and support resolution of provisioning issues.
• Obtain optical vendor quotes, order equipment, manage inventory transfers, and prepare installation scopes of work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent education, training, or experience.
• At least three years of telecommunications and/or data networking experience.
• Working knowledge of optical systems and signal-flow design through fixed- or flex-grid networks using ROADM technology.
• Ability to manage multiple unpredictable tasks, prioritize critical issues, meet inflexible deadlines, and resolve customer conflicts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office or Google programs and project management software.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with optical systems from Fuji, Adva, Ciena, Cisco, Infinera, or Nokia.
• Experience with Salesforce, ServiceNow, Sitetracker, or equivalent systems.
• Experience with telecom inventory systems; Metasolv is a bonus.
• Proficiency with Visio, Excel, or equivalent tools.
