Senior Accountant, Money Movement (Fintech)

Location: San Diego, California; Charlotte, North Carolina; Mountain View, California; or Oakland, California

Base pay: $112,500–$152,500 annually in San Diego

What you will do

• Support the monthly Payments loss reserves process by pulling and validating transaction and chargeback data and summarizing trends.
• Perform monthly GL close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations under GAAP and company policy.
• Complete bank and cash reconciliations across Payments, Bill Pay, Payroll, and Banking offerings, resolving variances cross-functionally.
• Support projects that build and scale the Money Movement engine, including new payment rails and accounting treatment for contract and technical requirements.
• Read SQL queries, validate and troubleshoot data, and use AI tools to accelerate reconciliations, variance analysis, and documentation.
• Maintain audit documentation, improve process automation, provide cross-training, and uphold close-calendar SLAs and internal controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including GL close and bank or cash reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of GAAP, accrual concepts, and revenue or payments accounting.
• Ability to read SQL for independent data queries and validation, and experience using AI tools such as Claude or Copilot.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder-partnership skills.
• Ability to manage close activities, reconciliations, and project work while maintaining accuracy and follow-through.

Nice to have

• CPA certification or progress toward CPA.
• Experience with Oracle, BlackLine, or similar finance systems.
