Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Location: Remote, must be located in the Chicago area; onsite interviews may be required. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $118,600–$148,250 base salary per year, with potential bonus and/or equity eligibility depending on role and level.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, and deployment.
• Provision, configure, and manage AWS infrastructure using infrastructure as code.
• Maintain version control, containerization, configuration management, and other software delivery tools.
• Build monitoring, dashboards, metrics, and alerting with tools such as CloudWatch and Datadog.
• Integrate security practices into development and deployment workflows.
• Collaborate with developers, security engineers, IT operations, Website Engineering, and Cloud Engineering teams; troubleshoot complex issues, perform maintenance and audits, and participate in on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of combined developer and DevOps/SRE experience with CI/CD, scripting, automation, and cloud-native AWS environments.
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and methodologies, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and Agile.
• Programming experience in several languages such as Node, Elixir, Go, Java, Python, Ruby, or SQL.
• Proficiency with Python or Bash scripting and DevOps tools including Git, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on AWS infrastructure experience with services such as EKS, OpenSearch, S3, RDS, API Gateway, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Route 53, and VPC; experience with Azure or GCP is also relevant.
• Experience with container orchestration, monitoring, alerting, dashboards, written and verbal communication, independent work, and prioritization in ambiguous environments.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting CI/CD and monitoring for high-traffic applications with millions of daily visits on AWS.
• Experience delivering results for large-scale systems and mentoring engineers.
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or other relevant certifications.
