TL;DR
Environmental Specialist (Oil and Gas Environmental Compliance): Managing contaminated sites, waste programs, permits, and regulatory compliance for Hilcorp Alaska operations with an accent on federal and state environmental regulations, waste handling, and site cleanup. Focus on coordinating contractors and agencies, maintaining regulatory reports, managing budgets and projects, and supporting audits, inspections, and field training.

What you will do

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for contaminated sites and waste management across hirify.global Alaska assets and operations.
  • Manage contaminated-site strategies, cleanup activities, waste segregation, storage, sampling, labeling, treatment, manifesting, transportation, and disposal.
  • Secure permits, maintain regulatory reports, track regulatory changes, and manage compliance across multiple facilities, fields, and operating areas.
  • Coordinate with internal clients, environmental specialists, contractors, government agencies, and the public.
  • Manage budgets and project plans, support audits and inspections, and assist with environmental due diligence for acquisitions.
  • Train office and field personnel, conduct environmental training, participate in the hirify.global Incident Command System, and support EHS risk-management programs.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of regulatory and environmental experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Minimum five years of experience with contaminated sites, waste management, and UIC programs under federal and state regulations; Alaska experience is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of DOT, UIC, RCRA, TSCA, EPCRA, ADEC Contaminated Sites and Solid Waste Programs, and AOGCC regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university or college.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, data-management, organizational, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to fly in commercial and small planes and helicopters, work at heights, and work overnight in remote locations.

  • Environmental sciences or engineering degree specialization.
  • Experience with hirify.global Alaska facilities and personnel.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other IT tools quickly.
