What you will do

• Support research, analysis, investigations, study design, experimentation, and instrumentation for the Injury Biomechanics and Protection Group.
• Conduct laboratory procedures, field studies, testing, data collection, and biomechanical analysis with minimal supervision.
• Design and develop research projects integrating scientific, engineering, and medical principles.
• Develop testing procedures and equipment, assess risks, and maintain the functionality and safety of research assets and facilities.
• Analyze biomechanical responses, human tolerance, and injury-prevention data using approved research protocols and plans.
• Prepare reports, presentations, manuscripts, standard operating procedures, and other technical documentation.

Requirements

• Relevant engineering degree and coursework from an ABET-accredited program.
• Knowledge of injury biomechanics, mechanics, dynamics, strength of materials, and mathematics.
• Experience with programming, data acquisition, instrumentation, kinematic and video motion capture, and MATLAB.
• Experience with PMHS research and Biosafety Level 2 policies and procedures.
• Experience with FDA or IRB approval processes, mechanical and impact testing devices, biomedical imaging, high-speed imaging, load cells, accelerometers, and ATDs.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a state-issued driver’s license for independent travel to restricted meetings and field-data collection locations; travel within and outside the continental United States may be required.
