TL;DR
Mechanical Design Engineer III (Electro-Mechanical Systems): Designing and building advanced electro-mechanical protective systems with an accent on mechanical components, molded and machined parts, and electronics packaging. Focus on structural, thermal, and tolerance-stack analysis, rapid prototyping, design for manufacturing, and supplier collaboration.

Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire, United States; hands-on office-based design work combined with time in a manufacturing environment. Some travel between hirify.global facilities and occasional international travel to Canada may be required.

Employment type: Salaried, exempt.

What you will do

  • Design mechanical components, assemblies, mechanisms, and electro-mechanical systems using 3D CAD and SolidWorks.
  • Create and review engineering drawings, GD&T, bills of materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Design packaging for rigid and flexible electronic circuits and interconnections.
  • Perform structural, thermal, heat-transfer, and tolerance-stack analyses; analyze test data.
  • Develop prototypes, assemble and test systems, and evaluate designs using 3D printers and shop tools.
  • Apply DFM principles, collaborate with suppliers, support design reviews, troubleshooting, sustaining engineering, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8–10 years of mechanical engineering experience in a product development environment.
  • Strong experience with SolidWorks or an equivalent 3D CAD platform, including drawings and PDM.
  • Experience designing molded and machined parts and working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience with engineering calculations and test-data analysis using Excel, MATLAB, or similar tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, attention to detail, quality, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
