Automation Engineer V (Automation, Instrumentation and Controls): Leading the design, documentation, programming, and field implementation of automation and control systems for complex life sciences and food and beverage facilities with an accent on mechanical system controls, process automation, regulatory standards, and construction support. Focus on developing P&IDs, safety instrumented systems, control schematics, engineering calculations, and multidisciplinary project execution.

What you will do
- Oversee the automation, instrumentation, and controls discipline on projects ranging from simple to highly complex.
- Manage discipline budgets, proposal development, man-hour planning, scheduling, and project execution with Project Managers.
- Develop construction drawing packages, specifications, system designs, programming, and master plans.
- Support construction through RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, field surveys, and progress reports.
- Lead quality checking, technical verification, interviews, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, manufacturers, and construction partners.
- Direct workflows and mentor engineers and designers from entry level through senior level.
Requirements
- ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting.
- Expertise in engineering calculations, control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings, field wiring plans, and P&IDs.
- Advanced knowledge of cGMPs, electrical, mechanical, building, and other applicable industry codes and standards.
- Experience designing safety instrumented systems and coordinating complex multidisciplinary engineering work.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office, and discipline-specific software.
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer registration.
- ISA Certified Automation Professional certification.
- Experience with R&D laboratories, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food and nutrition, or consumer products projects.
- Participation in external seminars and conferences for professional development.
