Automation and Process Control Engineer (Biotechnology)

What you will do

• Design, configure, test, and commission Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers.
• Develop and optimize control strategies, including Proportional-Integral-Derivative control loops, to improve process stability, reliability, and performance.
• Support site automation systems, instrumentation, control technologies, data historians, and industrial communication networks.
• Contribute to automation modernization, capital improvement projects, system upgrades, commissioning, startup activities, and lifecycle management.
• Maintain human-machine interface systems and operator graphics while troubleshooting automation infrastructure.
• Partner with manufacturing, operations, maintenance, and engineering teams on process improvements, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience supporting industrial process control, automation, or manufacturing systems in a process manufacturing environment.
• Experience developing or modifying control logic, functional specifications, control narratives, alarm strategies, and system configurations.
• Experience with chemical, biotechnology, food, pharmaceutical, or other continuous or batch process manufacturing operations.
• Ability to interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, control logic diagrams, and electrical drawings.
• Working knowledge of Process Safety Management, Process Hazard Analysis, and Management of Change processes, plus strong troubleshooting and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, Yokogawa CENTUM, or similar platforms.
• Exposure to batch automation systems or advanced process control applications.
• Familiarity with manufacturing analytics, data historians, continuous improvement methodologies, or structured problem-solving techniques.
