TL;DR
Controls Engineer (PLC/Automation): Maintaining and improving automated manufacturing equipment at an automotive plant with an accent on PLC troubleshooting, machine controls documentation, and production reliability. Focus on diagnosing electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical system issues, implementing plant-floor data collection, and solving root causes through 8D problem-solving.
Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; on-site at the Bridgewater Interiors II plant. B-Crew schedule: Tuesday–Friday, 6:30 p.m.–4:30 a.m.

What you will do
- Support maintenance teams by troubleshooting PLC ladder logic, ControlLogix data-handling functions, and automated equipment issues.
- Maintain PLC documentation, machine-control drawings, and electronic or paper archives of PLC and robotic programs.
- Repair, troubleshoot, and improve automated equipment, including I/O devices, instruments, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, HMIs, scanners, and remote I/O.
- Schedule machine-control and robotic-program backups and develop preventive-maintenance programs.
- Implement plant-floor data collection and error-proofing systems to improve uptime, safety, and reliability.
- Participate in continuous-improvement initiatives, equipment purchasing specifications, engineering launches, and 8D root-cause problem solving.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of related Controls Engineering experience in manufacturing.
- Allen-Bradley PLC experience is required.
- Degree in Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred, or equivalent additional experience.
- Ability to diagnose hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, electronic, and instrumentation issues.
- Ability to support automated production equipment and work the specified overnight B-Crew schedule on site.
