Field Service Technician (Mid-West & Ohio) (Gas Engines)

Location: Crown Point, Indiana, with service coverage across the Midwest, including Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. An Ohio-based assignment supports a project in New Albany, Ohio, with candidates expected to be based in or within reasonable commuting distance of Columbus, Ohio. Extensive travel, including travel away from home up to 80% of the year, is required; occasional overseas assignments may be needed.

Salary: $35–45 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

What you will do

• Service INNIO large gas engines and related balance-of-plant equipment at customer sites.
• Perform troubleshooting, fault rectification, scheduled maintenance, oil sampling, and engine-support activities to minimize downtime.
• Respond to after-hours callouts and provide timely, professional service reports and recommendations.
• Select, order, track, and return parts while maintaining van stock, tools, equipment, and site housekeeping standards.
• Maintain communication with the Service Manager, customers, and on-site subcontractors.
• Support the Service Manager by supervising and training apprentices and new employees.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of field service experience and strong practical field-service skills.
• Knowledge and experience with large gas engines, plus electrical and/or mechanical expertise.
• Willingness to travel extensively, work independently, work overtime and weekends, and spend up to 80% of the year away from home.
• Reasonable IT skills and the ability to manage workload effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, reliability, adaptability, and customer-service skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Power-generation experience.
• Knowledge of reciprocating gas engines and engine overhauls.
