TL;DR
Senior Electronics Design Engineer (Power Electronics and Embedded Control): Designing and validating analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for coordinated home energy systems with an accent on power conversion, metering, embedded control, and functional safety. Focus on owning board architecture, solving hardware issues through production, and driving manufacturability, reliability, testing, and cost optimization.

Location: Reno, NV, USA; onsite role

What you will do

  • Own board architecture for interconnect products, including power-conversion, metering, control, and communications architecture.
  • Design and validate analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for power management, embedded control, sensor interfaces, and precision AC measurement.
  • Perform schematic capture, component selection, simulation, PCB design reviews, and hardware debugging.
  • Apply functional safety and safety-critical design principles, including DFMEA and UL 991 compliance.
  • Support validation, manufacturing, production at scale, and field issue resolution through hardware failure root-cause analysis.
  • Provide technical leadership through design reviews, architecture decisions, design standards, supplier collaboration, and engineer mentoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in mixed-signal electronic hardware design and product development.
  • Experience taking electronic products through full development cycles and into production.
  • Hands-on experience with AC-DC and/or DC-DC power conversion and microcontroller-based embedded control systems.
  • Experience owning board-level architecture, including partitioning, interfaces, and design tradeoffs.
  • Experience with AC voltage, current, and power measurement, schematic capture, PCB layout reviews, and laboratory debugging using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD degree and 7+ years of experience developing electronic products for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience with CAN, UART, SPI, I²C, Ethernet, USB, hardware validation, reliability testing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with analog, power, and signal-integrity simulation tools; DFM, DFT, DFR, and DFC practices; automated test development; and fault injection.
  • Experience with renewable energy, battery systems, power electronics, or RF design.
