TL;DR
Air Quality Engineer (Air Permitting and Regulatory Compliance): Delivering air permitting and emissions compliance projects for industrial clients in the Gulf Coast area with an accent on emissions calculations, Title V permits, NSR applications, and state and federal regulations. Focus on evaluating air emission control technologies, preparing compliance reports, managing technical project tasks, and interpreting regulatory requirements for refinery, chemical, oil and gas, and manufacturing operations.

Location: Houston, Texas office; work from various locations within Texas may be possible. Geographical focus: the Gulf Coast area.

Salary: USD $65,000–$79,581 per year.

What you will do

  • Perform technical air quality work for industrial clients across the Gulf Coast.
  • Complete emissions calculations and semi-annual and annual compliance reports.
  • Develop New Source Review permit applications and federal operating permits under Title V.
  • Support state and federal permit compliance, including NSPS and MACT requirements.
  • Review air emission control technologies and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Manage technical project tasks and progressively take responsibility for selected projects.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of air quality experience.
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Meteorology.
  • Experience with New Source Review, PSD, non-attainment permitting, emissions inventories, Title V permitting, and compliance evaluations.
  • Understanding of federal and state air quality regulations, policies, and emerging regulatory programs.
  • Experience with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
  • Strong communication, writing, data interpretation, spreadsheet, word-processing, and multitasking skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Microsoft Access.
  • Refinery, chemicals, oil and gas, or manufacturing air permitting experience.
  • Relationships with state and federal agency personnel.
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineering License in Texas or licensure by committee.
  • Environmental organization participation and strong attention to detail.
