Project Engineer II (Energy Efficiency)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; travel is required approximately 25% of the time, typically across the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California, with occasional travel to other states.

Salary: USD $81,515.20–$95,000 per year, plus potential participation in an annual discretionary bonus program.

What you will do

• Perform, develop, and review facility audits, feasibility studies, calculations, and technical reports.
• Conduct site visits to verify the installation and operation of energy-using, generation, and storage equipment.
• Estimate savings for energy efficiency, electrification, and resiliency projects.
• Use energy modeling applications, scripting languages, and simulation techniques to predict project performance.
• Plan and support meter deployment to validate baseline and replacement equipment operation.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, and program administrators about program requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in energy efficiency, building science, or a related field.
• Knowledge of building systems, HVAC, lighting, energy efficiency technologies, and high-performance design.
• Experience with spreadsheet-based analysis and proficiency with Python or R for big data analysis and/or EnergyPlus, eQUEST, or similar building simulation software.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and a valid driver’s license.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with California Title 24 or ASHRAE 90.1.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical systems.
• Academic or professional interest in sustainability and green building.
