Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Hybrid; based in the Milwaukee, Madison, or Chicago office, with occasional travel throughout the US, primarily in the Upper Midwest.

Salary: USD 70,000–120,000 per year, depending on experience, education, skills, geographic location, and other factors.

What you will do

• Provide geotechnical guidance for the design and construction of industrial, utility, renewable energy, and solid waste projects.
• Guide subsurface explorations and soil testing programs, including boring logs and laboratory testing coordination.
• Develop geotechnical reports, permit documents, engineering calculations, drawings, and construction specifications.
• Support civil-site design projects and help ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Perform technical analyses, develop client-focused solutions, and collaborate with project teams.
• Apply quality assurance and quality control processes, prepare proposals, and support business development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering.
• 2–8 years of engineering experience providing geotechnical guidance and performing similar work.
• Experience developing and implementing plans, designs, and specifications.
• Experience with subsurface exploration, boring logs, and geotechnical laboratory testing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to pass a background check, and ability to pass an OSHA physical.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree or additional training in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Experience with renewable energy, solid waste management, regulatory agencies, and construction permitting.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with a current annual refresher.
