TL;DR

What you will do

  • Generate and modify CAD models for automotive structural frame components and exterior body panels.
  • Convert CAD designs into robot tool paths using the internal software stack and RoboCraftsman system.
  • Analyze RoboForming data and 3D scan results to evaluate part quality and identify improvements.
  • Design and execute structured experiments to optimize forming parameters and tool path strategies.
  • Collaborate with product managers, hardware and software engineers, manufacturing engineers, designers, fabricators, and external customers.
  • Document processes, results, and analyses while making autonomous decisions and refining strategies based on real-world outcomes.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing, robotics, or prototyping.
  • Proficiency with at least one CAD tool, such as SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Fusion 360, or Rhino.
  • Familiarity with CAM, tool path generation, or robot programming, plus strong data analysis skills using MATLAB, Python, advanced Excel, or similar tools.
  • Ability to work in open-ended problem spaces, follow standard processes, maintain attention to detail, and prioritize occupational safety.
  • Ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • CAD surface modeling expertise.
  • Experience with industrial robots such as FANUC, KUKA, or ABB.
  • Knowledge of CNC machining, additive manufacturing, or other digital manufacturing processes.
  • Exposure to 3D scanning, inspection systems, or metrology tools.
  • Experience with Python scripting, software development, software architecture, or computational geometry.
