TL;DR
Laboratory Analyst (Analytical Chemistry): Performing hands-on analytical laboratory work in Denver with an accent on instrument operation, mass spectrometry chromatogram analysis, calibration standards, and GC-FID workflows. Focus on interpreting laboratory data, evaluating instrument performance, maintaining accurate LIMS records, and following SOP, quality assurance, and safety requirements.

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States; onsite laboratory and office environment. Schedule: 12:00–20:00, with occasional shifts of up to 12 hours.

Hourly compensation: $23.00–$27.00 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and geographic location.

What you will do

  • Support multiple laboratory projects alongside experienced analysts and chemists.
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments, with a focus on GC-FID systems.
  • Analyze mass spectrometry chromatograms and process data using acquisition and processing software.
  • Prepare calibration standards and use micro-syringes, balances, pipettes, and other basic laboratory equipment.
  • Enter, access, and maintain data in a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Evaluate instrument performance, report irregularities, and assist with SOP updates while following laboratory safety and quality policies.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Chemistry or a closely related science.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience from professional work or undergraduate coursework.
  • Basic understanding of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory best practices.
  • Ability to follow written procedures accurately and consistently, with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Effective communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in a laboratory environment, including standing, walking, lifting 20–25 pounds several times per day, and occasional exposure to hot, cold, rainy, windy, or sunny conditions.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with EPA Methods 8260, 8015, or 8270.
  • Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and develop technical skills in a production laboratory environment.
