Senior Engineering Manager (API Catalog)

Location: Cupertino or San Francisco, California, United States; in-office five days a week

Salary: $280,000–$320,000 base salary per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Manage, coach, hire, and grow a senior engineering team while raising the technical bar and distributing system knowledge.
• Own the API Catalog engineering roadmap, delivery milestones, tradeoffs, and production support.
• Drive architecture across API ingestion, gateway federation, service modeling, reporting, and deployment data layers.
• Coordinate delivery across teams responsible for specification tooling, the API client, provider integrations, ecosystem connectivity, and shared platform services.
• Build reliable, observable systems with correct reporting, multi-tenant isolation, cost-per-tenant awareness, and support for on-premises and self-managed deployments.
• Expand event-driven API support, beginning with Kafka, and scale the product for large enterprise environments.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience and 5+ years leading engineering teams.
• Demonstrated depth in personally designing, debugging, and solving technically difficult systems problems.
• Experience scaling a validated product from 1→10 and owning enterprise integrations across many third-party providers.
• Experience delivering work that depends on teams outside the direct reporting line and leading senior-heavy engineering teams.
• Experience with multi-tenant enterprise SaaS, on-premises or self-managed infrastructure, compliance requirements, and full lifecycle ownership.
• Clear communication with engineers, executives, and customers.

Nice to have

• API gateways, AWS, GCP, Azure, and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD systems and developer workflow tooling.
• ClickHouse or similar analytical datastores for customer-facing reporting.
• Kafka and other event-driven or asynchronous API technologies.
• Enterprise governance, audit, or compliance reporting experience.
