What you will do

  • Audit engineering designs, drawing packages, manufacturing processes, and assembly records against approved baseline specifications and flight-worthiness requirements.
  • Apply AIAA S-113 and related launch-vehicle standards to ordnance, explosive devices, pyrotechnic separation mechanisms, pressure vessels, and mechanical and propulsion subsystems.
  • Participate in SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, and FRR technical baseline reviews and verify evidence for mission assurance and flight-test readiness.
  • Evaluate MRB dispositions, deviations, and waivers; oversee FRBs, root-cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review QTPs and ATPs, approve test results, and serve as the onsite engineering witness during critical testing events.
  • Lead supplier IPT meetings to align schedules, track deliverables, and resolve technical issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field.
  • At least seven years of experience supporting missile defense or large-scale, complex DoD programs.
  • Working knowledge and practical application of AIAA S-113 or closely related launch and flight-vehicle standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, ECOs/ECPs, and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills for defending engineering assessments to government and contractor stakeholders.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance; travel up to 15% is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
  • Direct experience with Missile Defense Agency programs, including Targets and Countermeasures, GMD, THAAD, or Aegis BMD.
  • Hands-on experience with pyrotechnic devices, initiation systems, EEDs, solid rocket motors, or high-reliability electromechanical assemblies.
