Data Architect (Databricks)

Location: Lehi, Utah, United States; hybrid schedule with in-office work Monday-Wednesday

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end architecture of the data platform, including ingestion, transformation, storage, semantic and BI layers.
• Co-drive the technical direction and rollout of a new platform alongside the Staff Software Architect while evolving the existing foundation.
• Define canonical data models, schemas, architecture standards, and scalable lakehouse foundations.
• Design correlation, causation, and statistical models to support reliable analytics and decision-making.
• Build governed, reusable pipelines for BI tools such as Omni and downstream AI/ML use cases.
• Establish data quality, governance, lineage, and access-control practices while mentoring data engineers and evaluating platform investments.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture, including 7+ years in architecture or technical leadership.
• Deep expertise in Databricks, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog, or a comparable modern cloud data platform such as Snowflake.
• Strong knowledge of dimensional modeling, medallion/lakehouse architecture, or data vault methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT and orchestration tools such as dbt, Airflow, or Fivetran.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, including distributed processing with Spark/PySpark.
• Experience with data governance, BI and semantic-layer tools, cloud infrastructure, and security or compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and data privacy regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks AI/BI, post-acquisition data integration, or consolidating disparate data sources.
• Databricks Data Engineer, SnowPro, or similar certification.
• Experience with multi-country data residency, privacy, and cross-border data requirements.
• Experience in high-growth SaaS environments or infrastructure consolidation.
• Exposure to feature pipelines, vector stores, or RAG-supporting data architectures.
