Technical Service Manager (Polyurethanes)

Location: Derry, New Hampshire, or Auburn Hills, Michigan, United States. Work takes place across office, laboratory, pilot plant, manufacturing, and customer environments, with approximately 25–40% domestic and international travel.

What you will do

• Lead Technical Service and Applications Engineering activities supporting TPU and liquid polyurethane elastomer business growth across the Americas.
• Provide technical direction for customer support, application development, troubleshooting, product validation, and innovation projects.
• Support strategic customers through technical engagement, plant trials, product evaluations, field demonstrations, and commercialization activities.
• Recommend material selections, processing optimizations, and application solutions for customer and product performance challenges.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Technology & Innovation, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the technical service and applications engineering team while managing budgets, laboratory resources, projects, and travel expenditures.

Requirements

• Unrestricted right to work for hirify.global in the United States is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Science, Plastics Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience in technical service, applications engineering, product development, manufacturing support, or related polymer or elastomer roles.
• At least 3 years of leadership and people management experience.
• Strong knowledge of TPU, elastomers, thermoplastics, polymer processing, and application development, including extrusion, injection molding, compounding, film, or sheet production.
• Experience with customer technical trials, product commercialization, troubleshooting, project management, and cross-functional leadership.

Nice to have

• Direct TPU industry experience or a relevant master’s degree.
• Experience managing technical teams across multiple locations and supporting global customers.
• Knowledge of automotive, industrial, footwear, wire and cable, film and sheet, or specialty TPU applications.
• Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or equivalent continuous improvement experience.
• Advanced knowledge of polymer processing and application engineering principles.
