Senior Biologist/Ecologist - Natural Resources

Location: Orlando, Florida, USA; work includes local and regional travel, field assignments, and physically demanding surveys across varied terrain and weather conditions.

Annual compensation: $90,000–$110,000, plus an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Lead due diligence and natural resources project work across Florida and the Southeast U.S.
• Perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessments under ASTM E1527-21 and corridor studies for roadway projects.
• Conduct wetland delineations and assessments, wildlife surveys, threatened and endangered species surveys, and field data collection.
• Evaluate development impacts on wildlife, habitats, ecosystems, threatened and endangered species, and wetlands as part of NEPA assessments.
• Develop mitigation strategies and prepare or review reports, applications, proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and technical approaches.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, financials, subcontractors, client relationships, multidisciplinary teams, and post-survey data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Wildlife Ecology, Wetland Ecology, Fisheries, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional due diligence and natural resources experience in Florida and/or the Southeast U.S.
• Experience with southeastern wetland ecology, wildlife ecology, and/or botany.
• Familiarity with field survey techniques, wetland delineations, sub-meter GPS technologies, and map interpretation using resources such as NWI, USGS, and aerial photography.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, lead teams, manage multiple projects, travel locally and regionally, and complete extended field assignments.

Nice to have

• Professional certifications such as PWS, WPIT, CE, Q/CAWB, or eligibility for certification.
• Proficiency with GIS software.
