TL;DR

Salary: USD $100,006.40–$130,000.00 per year, with potential eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

  • Manage biological and environmental permitting projects from proposal through completion.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, work plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project financial performance, profitability, invoicing, and budgets exceeding $250,000.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of engineers, planners, scientists, GIS specialists, and environmental professionals.
  • Lead and review biological resource assessments, habitat and wetland studies, wildlife and botanical surveys, species surveys, and mitigation monitoring reports.
  • Provide technical oversight for NEPA, CEQA, regulatory compliance documentation, technical reports, and permit applications while managing client, agency, and subcontractor relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, Natural Resources, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 10–15 years of environmental consulting experience, including at least 5 years managing complex environmental projects.
  • Experience conducting biological and special-status species surveys, monitoring, field reconnaissance, and technical reporting.
  • Knowledge of biological resource regulations and compliance processes, including CDFW, USFWS, and CEQA.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, organization, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with GPS equipment, GIS applications, and digital data collection; valid driver’s license and ability to travel for field assignments.

Nice to have

  • Professional Wetland Scientist, Certified Wildlife Biologist, Professional Biologist, or PMP certification.
  • GIS experience with ArcGIS.
  • Experience with transportation, water resources, energy, municipal, or infrastructure projects.
