What you will do

• Contribute to basic mechanical engineering solutions under the supervision of an engineer or experienced technician.
• Assemble components and support prototype construction, testing, and delivery.
• Document prototype builds, test results, engineering records, time, materials, labor, and schedules.
• Support the design and development of production aids while following World Class Manufacturing principles.
• Collaborate with engineering staff, researchers, and support teams to identify and troubleshoot process and development problems.
• Apply documented engineering procedures, SEL values, and safe working practices.

Requirements

• Two-year technical degree or equivalent training and relevant work experience.
• Technical competence in CAD modeling at CSWA level, dimensioning standards, drawing and schematic interpretation, mathematics, applied physics, and technical writing.
• Technical competence in at least two areas including mechanical design, stress analysis, thermal engineering, automation, machining and fabrication, or engineering testing.
• Typically, at least two years of experience in a technical or manufacturing support role involving electronics manufacturing, product assembly, testing, automation, hydraulics, pneumatics, wiring, or related work.
• Basic MS Office skills, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to work cooperatively in a team.
• Satisfactory background check and negative drug test results required. Physical requirements include lifting up to 20 pounds frequently and 35 pounds occasionally, and sitting or standing for at least eight hours.

Nice to have

• Experience with Confluence, JIRA, and other project management or documentation tools.
• Basic programming experience with PLCs, Python, PolyScript, VBA, or similar technologies.
• Experience identifying and troubleshooting process and development problems and verifying product or process specifications.
• Familiarity with the scientific method.
