Instrumentation Technician (Maintenance)

Location: Onsite in Palo Alto, California, United States. Standard schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, with occasional alternative shifts, overtime, and on-call support.

Salary: $65,513–$93,590 per year, with competitive hourly compensation and overtime eligibility.

What you will do

• Calibrate and maintain electronic and pneumatic process equipment measuring temperature, pressure, level, flow, and weight.
• Troubleshoot and repair control loops, electrical and electronic systems, and process instrumentation.
• Support PLC platforms including Rockwell, Siemens, and GE/Emerson, along with HMI and SCADA tools.
• Operate and maintain lab-scale fermentation equipment, with potential exposure to pilot-scale operations.
• Perform preventive electrical and mechanical maintenance and diagnose pneumatic, electronic, and mechanical issues.
• Interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics, maintain records, and follow SOPs and BOMs.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating process instrumentation.
• Associate degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Technologies, or equivalent technical training.
• Practical experience with process equipment and basic mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics, with strong instrumentation and control-system troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work independently and communicate effectively.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights; flexibility for alternative shifts, overtime, and on-call schedules.

Nice to have

• Experience in laboratory or fermentation process environments.
• Familiarity with digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and current loop analyzers.
• Knowledge of belt drives, pulleys, and torque specifications.
