Senior Scientific Software Engineer (Python)

Location: Full-time onsite role based at the headquarters in Denver, Colorado, United States.

What you will do

• Architect, develop, and maintain Python-based systems for scientific data analysis, visualization, and internal workflows.
• Lead software design from research prototypes through production deployment.
• Build and support large-scale and streaming data pipelines and interactive multi-user analysis tools.
• Integrate machine learning systems, including model integration, training pipelines, and adaptive control workflows.
• Integrate Python applications with HPC, distributed computing systems, and legacy C++ or Fortran codes.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across projects while establishing standards for testing, documentation, CI/CD, and deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience in technical, data-intensive, or research-driven environments.
• Expert-level Python skills with strong experience in NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Scikit-Learn.
• Experience designing and owning complex software systems under ambiguous or evolving requirements.
• Experience collaborating with non-software domain experts and supporting experimental or simulation workflows.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Nice to have

• Experience with 3D geometry or CAD data and libraries such as OpenCASCADE, VTK, or PyVista.
• Familiarity with scientific data formats including HDF5, NetCDF, VTK, and custom binary formats.
• Experience interfacing Python with C, C++, or Fortran using tools such as pybind11, Cython, f2py, or nanobind.
• Experience with parallel, GPU, or distributed computing, machine learning in production, and real-time or adaptive control applications.
• Experience with Docker, Apptainer, Kubernetes, HPC environments, and SLURM.
