Backend Software Engineer (HPC)

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable backend systems, web APIs, and simulation data management solutions.
• Unify frontend-backend APIs and improve caching, synchronization, storage, and scripting capabilities.
• Collaborate with electromagnetic simulation and infrastructure teams on backend, scheduler, and Python frontend integrations.
• Design task pipelines for multi-physical simulation workloads and develop hybrid cloud compute and storage solutions.
• Operate and optimize high-performance computing clusters with high-speed interconnects and CPU/GPU resources.
• Build secure, observable, and reproducible infrastructure, including Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or computer engineering.
• Professional backend development experience with Java, Python, and/or C++.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, and infrastructure automation.
• Expertise in backend service development, web API architecture, distributed systems, Linux, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, configuration management, monitoring, logging, and observability.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals and backend security best practices.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating cloud platforms with HPC environments or large compute clusters.
• Familiarity with Slurm, distributed computing frameworks, or large-scale data pipelines.
• Experience with scientific computing, simulation platforms, GPU infrastructure, resource scheduling, or developer platforms.
