Tooling Mechanical Designer (SolidWorks)

Location: Kulpsville, Pennsylvania, United States. This is an onsite, full-time manufacturing role. U.S. Person status is required for authorized access to ITAR-controlled data.

What you will do

• Lead tooling projects and provide guidance to the tooling group to align work with project deliverables.
• Independently create and revise 3D designs for production and prototype tooling and fixturing.
• Troubleshoot tooling and fixturing problems in production and collaborate with internal toolshop personnel on diagnoses.
• Review and approve designs completed by other tooling designers and engineers.
• Coordinate with internal and external toolshops on tool and fixture manufacturing, quotations, purchase requests, and status updates.
• Create job aids, work instructions, and training materials while driving continuous improvements in tooling design, machining processes, and cost savings.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of mechanical design experience.
• Advanced mechanical design skills and experience using 3D CAD systems, preferably SolidWorks.
• Ability to use basic hand measurement tools, including calipers, depth micrometers, and indicators.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• U.S. Person status as defined by applicable law is required for ITAR data access.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with loud equipment and occasional physical activities, including lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience designing tooling and fixturing.
• Experience with plastics and/or elastomer products in a manufacturing role.
• Machine shop or toolshop exposure.
• Lean Six Sigma experience.
• Exposure to 3D Experience PLM software, including 3DX.
