Sr. Advanced Mechanical Engineer

Location: Anderson, SC, United States; onsite at the Ryobi Outdoor Products Innovation Center. Travel of approximately 5–10% domestically and internationally is expected.

What you will do

• Lead advanced mechanical system design for next-generation outdoor products.
• Own mechanical feasibility, performance validation, and technical risk reduction for advanced engineering projects.
• Develop and evaluate mechanisms, structures, and integrated systems using first-principles analysis, FEA, CFD, and physical testing.
• Build, test, and iterate functional prototypes to validate durability, performance, and manufacturability.
• Define system requirements, user operation methods, design trade-offs, and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Industrial Design, and other cross-functional teams while guiding junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in advanced product engineering, concept maturation, or innovation in consumer products, automotive, or adjacent industries.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD, including SolidWorks or NX, and rapid prototyping.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanisms, gear design, structures, engineering materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience building prototypes, developing test plans, and defining acceptance criteria, with the ability to work autonomously across multiple projects.
• Software experience with Ansys Mechanical, LS-Dyna, Fluent, Discovery, KISSsoft, and MS Office; familiarity with AI/ML for mechanical design is expected.
