Technical Writer II

Location: Remote; travel to Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland is required for reviews and integration events.

What you will do

• Produce System User's Manuals and Help content for mission software installations.
• Prepare and edit CDRL deliverables, including trip reports, presentations, management review packages, meeting minutes, status reports, Software Version Descriptions, and Completion Summary Reports.
• Author Markdown documentation in a Government-approved GitLab repository alongside the software baseline.
• Apply correct CUI markings and maintain document baseline discipline.
• Review documentation from other contributors and supervise documentation work.
• Deliver materials to a standard requiring no substantive Government correction.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
• 4–8 years of relevant professional experience in technical documentation.
• Active DoD Secret clearance is required at the time of application.
• Training or ability in records management, CUI marking, and, where applicable, derivative classification for classified documentation.
• Ability to travel to Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland for reviews and integration events.
• Ability to complete required DoD and Army security, cyber awareness, CUI, antiterrorism, and installation-access training.

Nice to have

• STC Certified Professional Technical Communicator Foundation certification.
• API or technical documentation certification.
• Microsoft Office Specialist Word Expert certification.
• Experience with MkDocs, Sphinx, or Hugo docs-as-code workflows.
• Familiarity with DocBook or DITA.
