System Protection Engineer IV

Salary: USD 125,000–145,000 per year, plus potential participation in an annual discretionary bonus program.

What you will do

• Lead relay settings engineering for transmission, distribution, and generation projects.
• Program protective relays and develop protection settings, logic diagrams, settings bases, standards, and templates.
• Perform CT performance evaluations, short circuit studies, impact studies, and feasibility studies.
• Review project deliverables for accuracy and completeness and provide owner’s engineering support to utility clients.
• Coordinate project planning, scopes, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and technical issue resolution with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers.
• Mentor junior engineers, support field relay testing and commissioning, and contribute to internal training and industry development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or an equivalent discipline from an accredited four-year institution.
• At least 8 years of experience in protection and control engineering and relay settings; 10 or more years is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of protective relay engineering principles and practices.
• Experience with short circuit modeling tools such as ASPEN and CAPE.
• Ability to follow client requirements and internal quality assurance and quality control practices.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
