Power System Protection Engineer

Location: Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, United States. The role requires travel 25% of the time.

What you will do

• Provide technical support and solutions for power system protection schemes.
• Work with customers to apply new technologies and solutions to utility and industrial power systems.
• Design models and demonstrations that show how protection technologies can improve customer systems.
• Troubleshoot SEL products and solutions, identifying the root cause of problems.
• Analyze protective relay responses to power system faults and teach customers how SEL products protect electrical equipment.
• Contribute to and review white papers, application guides, industry journals, and technical papers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience with power system protection and relays.
• Experience and knowledge of utility and/or industrial power systems, with an emphasis on protection, control, and operations.
• Strong customer relationship, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to travel 25% of the time.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
