Director, Technology (Broadcast Engineering)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio, United States; onsite

hirify.global is a large local television and media company operating broadcast stations and digital media platforms across the United States.

What you will do

• Lead short- and long-term technology strategy for WJW FOX 8 and WBNX TV stations and digital platforms.
• Manage CAPEX and OPEX engineering budgets, vendor contracts, leases, and three-year capital planning.
• Oversee engineering operations, equipment integration, preventative maintenance, studios, production control rooms, and transmission for 24/7 live programming.
• Direct digital streaming and production platforms for web, mobile, OTT, connected TV, and on-demand video distribution.
• Maintain transmitter sites, microwave links, STL/TSL systems, fiber networks, and broadcast infrastructure.
• Lead workflow improvements, staffing, training, project planning, and collaboration across station departments.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in broadcast operations, technology, or IT-related management.
• Strong knowledge of broadcast systems, including Ross Overdrive, Xpression, ENPS, BitCentral, Dejero, Florical automation, Harmonic encoders, Dante, Utah routers, Sony ENG cameras, and PC-based editing systems.
• Deep technical proficiency in IT networking, fiber, RF signals, switches, patch panels, and IP-based workflows.
• Experience with hub-and-spoke master control systems and broadcast automation.
• Experience working in a union environment, including labor negotiations and contract interpretation.
• Ability to lead approximately 60 employees in a 24/7 live environment, work flexible hours, remain on call, and safely lift up to 50 pounds.
