TL;DR
Director, Software Engineering (Traffic Infrastructure): Defining and executing the strategy for Traffic Foundation platforms that deliver traffic routing, load balancing, caching, edge services, and traffic orchestration at global scale with an accent on distributed systems, networking, reliability, security, and platform engineering. Focus on leading globally distributed engineering organizations, modernizing high-availability infrastructure, operating systems handling millions of requests per second, and driving incident response and continuous improvement.
Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; primary location at 1345 Crossman Ave
Annual salary: $169,000–$338,000 for the Sunnyvale location. Additional compensation may include performance bonuses and stock.

What you will do
- Define the technical vision, architecture, roadmap, and engineering standards for Traffic Foundation platforms.
- Lead engineering managers and senior engineers across globally distributed teams.
- Oversee highly available distributed systems supporting eCommerce, Stores, Supply Chain, and Enterprise applications.
- Drive platform modernization, automation, cloud adoption, and large cross-functional initiatives.
- Own the reliability, performance, and security of traffic infrastructure, including incident response and root cause analysis.
- Establish operational and engineering metrics and lead continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant computer science or engineering field with 6 years of related experience, or 8 years of related experience.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, networking, traffic management, and large-scale production systems.
- Experience with Layer 4 and Layer 7 routing, load balancing, proxies, caching, edge services, API gateways, CDNs, or service mesh technologies.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, TLS, cloud-native architectures, and modern programming languages such as Go, Rust, or Java.
- Experience with Azure, Kubernetes, platform engineering, SRE practices, technical strategy, and globally distributed organizations.
