Lead Architect (AI Solutions Architecture - EDDA)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States

Annual base salary: $169,400–$279,600, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Architect scalable, production-grade AI, machine learning, generative AI, and agentic AI systems across the enterprise.
• Design autonomous agents, multi-agent orchestration, tool and function calling, memory systems, RAG pipelines, and LLM selection and routing.
• Lead proofs of concept, hands-on prototypes, and technology transformation initiatives while reducing technical debt.
• Advise division and domain architects and align AI platform capabilities with business and technology strategies.
• Establish AI solutions architecture practices, governance, risk, and control processes for safe and sustainable deployments.
• Communicate architectural direction, mentor architecture and engineering leaders, and build organizational consensus.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related STEM or technology field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 7 additional years of architecture or software engineering experience, with 8–10 years of architecture experience preferred in the broader profile.
• At least 2 years of technical leadership experience and advanced architecture and engineering experience.
• Experience designing scalable AI systems, distributed and parallel processing architectures, AI/ML development and deployment, MLOps, AI Ops, and CI/CD.
• Hands-on knowledge of generative AI, transformer architectures, LLMs, multimodal systems, reinforcement learning, autonomous planning, RAG, vector databases, and agentic patterns.
• Experience with LangChain, Strands, Crew AI, MCP, Agent2Agent, AWS Bedrock and AgentCore; knowledge of AI ethics, bias mitigation, governance, model risk, EU AI Act, and GDPR.

Nice to have

• Insurance technology and strong insurance industry experience.
• Experience with Azure Foundry, Agent 365, or GCP/Gemini AI.
• Hands-on experience with Claude Enterprise/CLI/Code, OpenAI Codex, and GitHub Copilot.
